KYIV, March 13 – Ukraine’s rapid pace of increasing the share of renewable power generation poses a risk of unbalancing the power grid, Vsevolod Kovalchuk, the head of the state power grid said Wednesday.
Permits have been issued for 7.42 GW in renewable power capacity, but the grid can only take 3 GW, he said. Any further increase would require building more fossil fuel-burning power plants in order to balance out the system.
