KYIV, Feb 21 – Ukraine disagrees with the International Monetary Fund on selection of judges for the to-be-created Anti-Corruption Court, Finance Minister Oleksandr Danyliuk said Wednesday.
The creation of the court has emerged as the key demand from the IMF for resuming its crucial $17.25 billion loan to Ukraine. The disagreement, however, shows the issue may get further delayed.
The IMF insisted the judges must be selected with the help from international legal experts to ensure the court’s independence from the government, but Danyliuk said this may contradict the constitution.
