KYIV, Feb 2 – Ukrainian steel and mining enterprises, the backbone of the country’s economy, in January 2018 boosted rolled steel output by 10% year-over-year, to 1.683 million tons.

According to the Ukrmetalurgprom association, the production figures take into account two months of operation of the enterprises this year (before losing control over them).

In January, steel smelting rose by 10%, to 1.907 million tons, cast iron production grew by 27%, to 1.937 million tons.
