KYIV, Jan 3 - Ukrainian mining and metallurgical enterprises in 2017 reduced production of steel by 12% compared to 2016, to 21.284 million metric tons, according to the Ukrmetalurgprom association.

In addition, during this period the total rolled steel output decreased by 14%, to 18.439 million tons, cast iron by 15%, to 20.035 million tons.

In December Ukrainian metallurgical enterprises produced 1.873 million tons of cast iron (103% against the previous month), 1.876 million tons of steel (100.4%), 1.7 million tons of rolled steel (107%). The increase in steel and rolled steel production in December 2017 compared to November 2017 was mainly due to the growth in production at Illich steel mill and Zaporizhstal.
