Ukraine to go ahead with household gas price hike despite protests
Journal Staff Report

KIEV, May 23 – Ukraine will probably go ahead with natural gas price hikes for households despite threats by trade unions to launch massive rally to protest the increase, Prime Minister Yuriy Yekhanurov said Tuesday.

The government, for the first time since August 1999, allowed gas prices to increase 25% from May 1, but more gas price hikes should be expected, Yekhanurov said.
