KIEV, May 22 - The first power unit of Zaporizhia NPP on Monday night was switched on and is gaining power after an automatic shutdown from the grid at 15:09 on Sunday, May 21, the press service of Energoatom has reported.

"Power unit No. 1 was connected to the power grids at 03:51 a.m. on May 22, 2017. The unit is gaining power," the company said.

According to the press service, the remote protection of the unit was activated during the operations on the withdrawal of the 750 kV Dniprovska power line for repairs.
