KIEV, Feb. 21 – Combined heat and power plants have been shifted to economy mode, under the order of the Kiev mayor, to ensure that the capital will have enough coal by the end of the heating season, chief of staff at Kiev City State Administration Volodymyr Bondarenko stated.
"Out of the three combined heat and power plants (CHPP) in Kiev, only one is running on coal, the remaining two do not depend on coal. Darnytsia CHPP, which serves 20% of the city, mainly Darnytsky and Dniprovsky districts, needs solid fuel," Bondarenko said.
