KIEV, Jan. 16 – Naftogaz Ukrayiny on January 11 retained Covington & Burling LLP, a New York law firm, for $6.31 million, to represent its interests in arbitration against Russia under a claim over losses it incurred as a result of the annexation of Crimea by Russia.
Naftogaz said in a report in the ProZorro e-procurement system, the contract expires on December 31, 2017.
Earlier Naftogaz Ukrayiny Head Andriy Kobolev predicted that hearing of a lawsuit against Russia where Naftogaz demands to refund losses of around $2.6 billion caused by the unlawful seizure of the holding's assets due to the annexation of Crimea would last two or three years.
