KIEV, Oct. 24 – National Bank of Ukraine Governor Valeriya Gontareva has reiterated that a smear campaign is under way against her and says that Ukraine is now seeing macro-financial stability.

Gontareva says she is sure that the campaign against her was masterminded by owners of banks involved in litigation with the NBU.

"All these are links in one planned chain of provocations. It started before I arrived at [a meeting with] the IMF. I was leading the official delegation. The National Bank has already submitted all the papers to the police. They were disseminating a kind of a pamphlet - you cannot describe it the other way. It was a collection, on the one hand, of innuendoes and utterly false information gathered from various "yellow" websites, and [on the other hand] it was a compilation of why Gontareva is a threat to the country's economic stability, [with] extremely doubtful and unprofessional reports," she said on Channel ICTV on Sunday evening.
