KIEV, March 4 – Parliament has approved a law increasing the responsibility of the heads of banks, which was proposed by President Petro Poroshenko.
A total of 260 MPs voted in favor of draft law No. 2085 on Monday evening.
"All who comes up with critics, often fair, of activity and sometimes inactivity of the National Bank of Ukraine: she [Head of the NBU Valeriya Gontareva] has UAH 110 billion of refinancing [provided to the banks], which wasn't transferred by her. And the price of this law is actually returning this UAH 110 billion to the Treasury" said Yuriy Lutsenko, head of the Petro Poroshenko Bloc faction.
"This is the most important reform as of today," he said.
