KIEV, Nov. 24 – Ukraine's population, not including temporarily occupied Crimea, has dropped to 42,973,696 people as of October 1, 2014, with the resident population standing at 42,804,059 people, according to a report on the demographic situation issued by the State Statistics Service.

The overall population growth rate in January through September 2014 was negative, it decreased by 99,424 people. In addition, a larger negative natural increase rate was compensated by a small positive migration increase rate.
