BRUSSELS, Dec. 22 - The European Union called on Russia and Ukraine to continue talks to arrange a gradual transition towards liberalization of natural gas prices and transit fees, a newswire reported Thursday citing an EU official.

"Reaching a compromise would meet interests of all parties," Interfax-Ukraine reported citing Christina Gallach, a spokeswoman for E.U. foreign policy chief Javier Solana in Brussels.
