KIEV, Sept. 12 - Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko, speaking at a conference in Kiev, emphasized the importance of the bill on special status for certain districts of Donetsk and Luhansk regions in the context of the peace process in eastern Ukraine.
The bill was passed by the Verkhovna Rada, Ukraine's parliament.
"You will not find any threat to Ukraine's territorial integrity or any threat to [our] independence there, and the transfer of authority from the central bodies to the local ones will not be larger than it is in Polish gminas [municipalities]," Poroshenko said at the 11th meeting of the Yalta European Strategy (YES) conference in Kiev on Friday.
