KIEV, Sept. 11 – Parliament Speaker Oleksandr Turchynov has called for the cancellation of Ukraine's non-aligned status and noted that Ukraine's position on Euro-Atlantic integration is currently supported by most Ukrainians.

"I think that one of the decisions that should be made by parliament in the next few days is the cancellation of the legislative provision on Ukraine's non-aligned status, which was pushed through by [former President Viktor] Yanukovych in gross violation of the rules of procedure. This was done on Moscow's diktat. Ukraine should pave the way for entry to NATO. Only the Euro-Atlantic collective security system can stop such an aggressor as Russia," he said in an interview published in Focus magazine on Thursday.
