KIEV, April 14 – Ukraine's Supreme Court has closed the "gas case" against former Prime Minister Yulia Tymoshenko, citing what it termed the absence of any actual criminal event.
"All of the Supreme Court's chambers met today, and 42 of the 48 judges drew a line under the falsified gas case. The Supreme Court ruled that there are no criminal events in Yulia Tymoshenko's actions," Tymoshenko's defense attorney, Serhiy Vlasenko, said at a press conference.
This ruling means that Tymoshenko has been acquitted, he said.
"The Supreme Court has finally established that the gas case is an absolute lie. This carries full political and total legal rehabilitation for Yulia Tymoshenko," Vlasenko said.
