KIEV, April 15 - Ukraine on Tuesday resumed imports of natural gas from Europe via Poland, UkrTransGaz, the state-owned gas shipping company, reported.
Ukraine is importing gas from Europe in line with an agreement between national energy company Naftogaz Ukrayiny and RWE of Germany signed in May 2012. The agreement calls for supplies of 5 Bcm/year of gas and could be potentially expanded to 10 Bcm/year.
“Within the contract between Naftogaz Ukrayiny and RWE we have received a request to start [European] gas shipments on April 15,” a spokesman at UkrTransGaz said. “This request is now being implemented.”
