KIEV, Aug. 31 ??“ Tensions rose dramatically at Nikopol Ferroalloy Plant on Wednesday after a group of workers, led by billionaire businessman Viktor Pinchuk, resisted government-appointed managers and barred them from the company.

Hundreds of police officers have been deployed at the scene to prevent clashes between the workers loyal to Pinchuk and rival business groups that cooperate with the government in the takeover.
