KIEV, Aug. 22 - Ukraine will seek to defend the option of creating a free-trade agreement within the Common Economic Space, a bloc that also includes Russia, Kazakhstan and Belarus, President Viktor Yushchenko said Monday.

Yushchenko said he already arranged a meeting with his Russian counterpart, Vladimir Putin, later this month to discuss the matter.
