KIEV, Dec. 21 – The Ukrainian cabinet has approved a draft agreement in the form of an exchange of notes between the Ukrainian and U.S. governments on the resumption of the agreement under the Ukraine Nuclear Westinghouse Fuel Qualification Project of June 5, 2000.
The decision is stipulated in cabinet resolution No. 2256-r of December 15, 2010.
The Fuel and Coal Ministry of Ukraine told Interfax-Ukraine that the prolongation of the agreement is needed to continue the exploitation of 42 fuel assemblies at reactor three of the Yuzhnoukrainsk nuclear power plant, in particular, with expected supplies of additional equipment by the United States as a part of the realization of the Ukraine Nuclear Fuel Qualification Project (UNFQP).
